Neon Genesis Evangelion follows teenage pilots controlling Evangelion units, biomechanical giants designed to fight the Angels. The Evangelion Test Type-01, also known as EVA-01, is the unit piloted by Shinji Ikari and one of the most recognizable mecha in Japanese animation. This official Kotobukiya model kit presents it in the TV version, from the Plastic Model Kit line, made of plastic and standing approximately 19 cm tall.

EVA-01 stands out through its mechanical yet organic appearance, with a slim, almost animal-like silhouette and an instantly recognizable purple, green, black and orange color scheme. In the series, it plays a central role in the battles against the Angels, as well as in the mysteries surrounding NERV, the Evangelions and the bond between Shinji and his unit. This TV version recreates the iconic anime design with a sharp, lean and highly expressive look.

The model kit shows the Evangelion Test Type-01 standing in a slightly leaning pose, with long thin limbs, an angular head, a frontal horn and large back plates. The purple armor is complemented by black, green and orange parts, with several sculpted panels defining the joints and body shapes. The high shoulders, elongated arms, fine hands and stylized feet reinforce EVA-01’s unique appearance, halfway between combat robot and living creature.
