Character Vocal Series 01 - Hatsune Miku figure, Jiangshi

The Design COCO Hatsune Miku “Jiangshi” PVC figure reimagines the virtual idol as an endearing Chinese hopping vampire, blending horror motifs with kawaii charm. Cast in high-grade PVC at a 1/7 scale, Miku strikes the classic jiangshi pose—arms outstretched, head tilted, knees slightly bent, as if about to hop forward. Her outfit fuses traditional ritual garb with signature Miku elements: a turquoise pleated skirt, a cropped black vest trimmed in gold, and flowing ribbons cascading from her twin tails.

The paintwork juxtaposes her nearly corpse-white complexion with vibrant turquoise and purple accents. Violet shadows under her eyes and along her cheeks heighten the undead effect while preserving a playful expression. Intricate details—embroidered cuffs, the talisman seal on her forehead, and a dangling bead chain—are faithfully reproduced, enriching the visual depth.

Molded in premium PVC, this 23 cm tall piece balances durability with fine detailing. The natural folds of her garments, the motion of her ribbons, and the weathered wooden floor base—partially eaten away—are meticulously sculpted. The black base, with subtle greenish patina, anchors the scene in a mystical nocturnal setting, perfectly marrying Chinese folklore with pop culture.

Within the Vocaloid community, Jiangshi Miku exemplifies how fans reinvent the character through global mythologies. Here, she embodies the wandering spirit that dances to her own compositions. Fun fact: the original “Jiangshi Miku” song was released in 2018 and quickly amassed over two million views, cementing the concept’s popularity in fan art circles.
