This release features a movie-inspired paint scheme, an updated head sculpt, and a backpack repainted in red to match his appearance in the 1986 film. Its die-cast zinc alloy and engineering-grade plastic frame supports approximately 48 points of articulation. Optimus Prime comes with an Ion Blaster, an Energon Axe, the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, six pairs of interchangeable hands designed for different accessories and poses, and an exclusive biography card illustrated by Nobuyoshi Habara.

The figure recreates his broad red shoulders, blue legs, truck-window chest, grey midsection, yellow waist details, and blue helmet framing a silver faceplate. The supplied images show him in several combat stances wielding the long black blaster or the yellow Energon Axe, as well as holding the Matrix in front of his chest.
