Orthanc, the great black tower of Isengard from The Lord of the Rings, returns to Wētā Workshop's environment collection with this 2026 reissue standing 43 cm tall. Made primarily from polystone, this collectible recreates Saruman's fortress before the destruction of its surrounding gardens. Its slender silhouette, numerous architectural details and lush green environment depict Isengard during a time when the domain was still untouched. Originally released in a previous edition that later sold out, this piece has returned to production following popular demand, featuring a sculpt by David Tremont.

In The Lord of the Rings, Orthanc stands at the center of Isengard, a fortress located at the southern end of the Misty Mountains. Originally built by the Númenóreans, this black stone tower eventually becomes the residence of Saruman, the leader of the Istari, who conducts research into the Rings of Power and the forces of Sauron. Before his betrayal, Isengard was a peaceful domain surrounded by gardens, trees and expansive green spaces, where Gandalf sometimes visited Saruman for counsel. When Saruman turns toward darkness, he orders the trees to be cut down and gradually transforms the domain into an enormous industry of war, supplying his armies of Orcs and Uruk-hai. This Wētā Workshop collectible depicts Orthanc before that transformation, with its surrounding gardens still intact.

The diorama features a tall black tower with a narrow silhouette, its façades covered in architectural reliefs, columns, arches and numerous sculpted openings. The structure rises toward a summit divided into four sharp spires, characteristic of Orthanc's distinctive design. Its dark surfaces feature different shades of gray and black, highlighting the stone textures and individual sections of the construction. At the base of the tower lie lush gardens filled with miniature trees featuring foliage in various shades of green, grassy areas and small pathways. The entire composition rests on a black oval display base with smooth edges, emphasizing the contrast between the dark tower and its surrounding vegetation.
